Welcome to our Project Web!
The "European CNC-Network - Magical Moving Machine for EUROPE"
is an Erasmus+ KA229 technical project running for 36 months from October 2019 to September 2022.
It has six partner schools, one each from Croatia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Slovenia.
This School Exchange Partnership is coordinated by
Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock/Dublin, Ireland.
Kick-Off in Germany 10/2019
Over the course of the week before the Halloween Mid-term break, myself and three other members of this year’s 5th Engineering class (alongside Mr. O’Neill and Mr. Connell) ventured out of the school workshop and into a new European project that we are extremely proud, as a school community, to be a part of (considering that this is alongside the ‘Kiss The Cook’ European project that’s ongoing at present!)
The Magical Moving Machine for Europe, or better called ‘3M4EU’, is a collaborative Engineering and STE(A)M based project that involves working with other schools within the European Union, under the Erasmus+ EU Education Programme. The eventual goal of this particular project is to present a contraption that shows a variety of movements within that system; although at the time, the meaning of a ‘magical moving machine’ to our own Irish group was open to interpretation!
Corona Break 10/2019 - 12/2021
The 3M4EU project was suspended for two years during the pandemic Covid-19. During this time the school situation in every country was very difficult. All schools had periods of remote teaching with varying degrees of satisfaction and even the in-school time was challenging due to social distancing, sanitizing and mask wearing.
An extension of six months was initially applied for and this was granted, meaning that the end date was moved to 31/03/2022. However as the pandemic went on it was recognized that a further extension will be necessary in order to fulfill the project requirements.
Our second project meeting will take place in Lisbon, Portugal in the week 13-17/12/2021. We are looking forward to restarting this project albeit with a new group of students.
Restart in Portugal 12/2021
Students and Teachers at CENFIM, Lisbon, Portugal
There was a great sense of relief and optimism when we met in Lisbon on 12/12/2021 for a week-long project meeting. With two years of a break there was some changeover of teachers and almost a complete changeover of students. The meeting was hosted by CENFIM and split between two of their school centers, Lisbon and Marinha Grande. This was in important week-long meeting which enabled the re-start of the project after a long break. See the agenda below for further details.
